MCCURDY, Katherine Thelma
Katherine Thelma McCurdy, 94, of Sydney, died November 29
2017 peacefully at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Clayton Park surrounded by
three of her close cousins: Marylee, BarbaraJo and Ainsley.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel
Charles and Mary (MacKeagen) MacDonald.
Thelma was a graduate of Mount Alison University and worked
at the Sydney Steel Plant until her marriage in 1968. She
was a devout member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney
NS, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, a member of the Lucky Seven
Investment Club and enjoyed playing bridge. Thelma’s
kindness and sense of humour were appreciated by all that knew
her.
She is survived by step-grandchildren, Donald MacMillan,
Gordon, Douglas, Ross, Sheila & Virginia McCurdy and Barbara
Bosher and their families. She is also survived by paternal
cousins, BarbaraJo, Margo, Marylee, Cameron, Ainsley, Alan, John,
Peter, John, Jen & Judy and their families. She is
survived by maternal cousins Jean, Bill, Gordon and Jim Fitzgerald and
Jane Brown.
Predeceased by husband Harry; stepchildren, Hugh and wife
Lena, Barbara and husband Karl, David and wife Margo and
stepdaughter-in-law Minnie McCurdy.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation at this time. A celebration of life service will
be held in Sydney at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
A special thank you to the staff of Mt. Lane at Parkstone for
the kind, caring and extra special support shown to Thelma and family
during this difficult time.
