Sylvia Alice Schofield
1940-2017
Sylvia Alice Schofield – 77, of Gaspereau
Mountain, Kings County, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in
the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born at
home on the Gaspereau Mountain, she was a daughter of the late,
Raymond “Ray” and Leona (Gabrielsen) Schofield. In her
younger days, Sylvia was a long time member of the Flower Cart in New
Minas. She very much enjoyed all of the staff who worked with her and
was excited with all of the opportunities she was presented with. She
loved bowling, crokinole, horseshoes and washer toss. She
enjoyed watching every episode of Murder She Wrote and John Wayne
shows numerous times, enjoying each time like it was the
first. She was a collector of many things which became her
prize possessions that only she would know the meaning of.
She was a practical joker by heart, making April 1st, her favorite day
of the year. Always smiling and laughing, she loved being in the
presence of family gatherings, especially the regular
‘Sunday Night Suppers’. All family, near and far,
meant the world to her and she loved everyone deeply with a full open
heart. Sylvia held a very special place in everyone’s heart
and left a lasting impression with whoever had the privilege of
meeting her. She truly was a special gift from God. She is survived by
her sister and caregiver, Marilyn (the late, William
“Billy”) Morine, Gaspereau Mountain; a niece, Melanie
(Jason) Stevens, Port Williams, their children, Lucas and Noah; a
nephew, Trevor (Carol) Morine, Gaspereau Mountain, their son, Devon; a
sister, Elnora Auger, Massachusetts; two brothers, Gilbert (Vivian),
Florida and Martin (Georgie), Maine; several other nieces, nephews,
cousins and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she
was predeceased by an infant brother, Leslie; two sisters, Florence
Steadman and Frances Butler. Cremation has taken place and there will
be no visitation by request. The funeral service, followed by a
reception will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 24, 2017 in the
White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne
officiating. Burial will take place in the Gaspereau Cemetery.
