1922-2017
Stella Stevenson of Saint John, NB passed away peacefully
on September 21, 2017 at the age of 95. Born in
Chipman, NB on January 23, 1922 to parents Joseph and Stella (Day)
Stevenson, she was the last surviving member of the immediate family.
She enjoyed a long nursing career in Toronto and New York City before
she retired in Saint John.
Stella was predeceased by sisters Muriel Smith, Ramona
Murray, Myrtle Smith, Bessie Stevenson and by brothers William, Hiram
and Charlie. Stella is survived by several nieces and nephews, great
nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She
will be especially missed by her great-nephew, Gregory (Gail) Brown,
and her long-time friend Nathalie Godbout (Jim Lawlor).
Stella’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt
gratitude to the caregivers who supported Stella at home in the past
several years, and in particular to Thelma Burke who was a friend to
her and so devoted to Stella’s well-being.
In keeping with Stella’s wishes there will be no visitation
or funeral. A graveside service will be held on Sunday,
September 24th, 2017 at 4 p.m. at the Red Bank
cemetery in Chipman, NB. Arrangements have been entrusted to
Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row,
Saint John (634-7424).
