WHITE, Sidney
With sadness we share the passing of Sidney Earl White.
Born, April 13th, 1941 in Leaside, Toronto to Anne and Harry. He is predeceased by his parents and his sisters Audrey, Jean, Marion and many friends.
Sid was a knowledgeable and friendly presence in the aviation community and will be missed by his friends in Hanover, Ontario and Venice, Florida.
Sid loved his family, flying, books, debates, the church and traveling. In his 76 years, Sid was a musician, banker, business owner and then started flying in the 1960’s. He instructed, flew many years charter and commuter then in 1982 joined Transport Canada and rose to inspector number one. Sid retired in 2005 and enjoyed his own aviation business and traveled to Florida in the winters with his loving wife of 52 years Gwen. He also enjoyed adventuring in Ireland and Belize with his daughter Nachelle.
After a six-month battle with an aggressive form of cancer, Sid passed peacefully at the Hanover and District Hospital on August 21st before 6 a.m. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Hanover Hospital, Owen Sound Hospital and Sunnybrook Hospital. A special thank you to Ann Becks, Dr. Bruce Edington and all the nurses at CCAC, as well as Jim and Joan and JoAnn Todd.
As per Sid’s request, there will be no visitation. His Celebration of Life will be at St. James Anglican Church, Hanover on Friday August 25, 2017 at 1:30 pm. Please join us after the service for a time of fellowship, light refreshments and sharing of memories. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favourite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover.
