Shirley Mae Brown – 1935 – 2017

Obituary of Shirley Brown
Shirley Mae Brown, 81 formerly of Greenfield, Kings Co., passed away on Monday, August 14, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital. She was a resident of the Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville. Born in Lockhartville, she was the daughter of the late Herbert “Arthur” and Elise (Weagle) Smith.
In addition to being loving wife and mother of three boys, Shirley worked on the lines of Avon Foods and as a cook and baker at the former Paramount Hotel in Wolfville. As a Jehovah Witness, she enjoyed the fellowship and friends made at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Grand Pré. Shirley loved spending time baking, tending to her flowers, shopping at Frenchy’s and sharing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by sons Gary, Port Williams; Randy, Canora, SK; and Darren, Wolfville; four grandchildren Adam, Port Williams; James, Port Williams; Joshua, Canora, SK; and Tara, Yorkton, SK; three great-grandchildren Dawson, Travis and Bennett; and sister Gertrude Weatherbee, Lower Wolfville.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents and husband Elmer Brown; sisters Doris Smith, Cloris Smith, and Eleanor Smith; brothers Lloyd Smith, Keith Smith and Robert Smith.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service and burial will be held on August 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenfied Memorial Cemetery, Greenfield, Kings Co. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Evergreen Home for Special Care or charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr. (902-679-2822).
