Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at her home on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in her 84th year. Beloved wife of Douglas for 58 years. Cherished mother of David, Cheryl Hoeksema (John), Scott (Joanne) and Brad (Shelley). Beloved grandmother of Arista, Eric (Cassandra), Jenna, Alexandra, Dayna, Shane and Sheridan. Sister of Richard Burton (Anne-Marie), the late Wilma Fleury and the late Reggie Burton. Missed also by many nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Dr. Glen Mullen for his sincere care and compassion over the years. Shirley was well known in Grimsby as the bank teller of the local CIBC bank for 30 years. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Saturday, December 17, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m in the Funeral Home Chapel. Private cremation to follow. Interment at a later date, Grimsby Mountain Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to McNally House Hospice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
