Shirley Margaret (McAllister) Creamer
1925-2017
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing
of Shirley Margaret McAllister Creamer. Born in Kelvington,
Saskatchewan on October 13, 1925, Shirley was the daughter of the late
George McAllister and Julia Hawkins McAllister and was pre-deceased by
her brothers, William, Ian and Kevin McAllister, as well as her
brother-in-law Gerald Fleming and her niece Jane
Fleming.
Shirley was the wife of the late Dr. Thomas LeRoy Creamer.
They were married in 1953 and raised nine children together until
Roy’s untimely passing in 1982. Shirley was deeply devoted
to her family and had a special connection with each of her children
and their spouses, her 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
They will all cherish wonderful memories of Shirley. Her happiest
times were spent in their company.
In her ninety-second year, Shirley retained her keen and
active mind. She was an avid reader who was interested in everything
and everyone. Over the years, Shirley was very involved in her
community. She was on the Board of the Saint John United Way, the
Rocmaura Foundation, and the St. Rose Seniors’
complex. She was also a volunteer with the New Brunswick
Competitive Music Festival and was a member of the Union Club
Ladies’ Committee.
Shirley is survived by her sister Barbara Fleming and her
sister- in-law June Grant Creamer, as well as her nine children: Mary
Ann (Donald Ketchum), Thomas (Nancy Anne Donovan), Robert (Barbara
Lawson), Peter (Loretta Breau), Nancy (Patrick Ervin), Lucinda (Andrew
Rouse), June (Marc Cormier), Margo (Nevin Seeley), and Nea (Darrell
Stephenson).
Shirley was deeply proud of her grandchildren: Julie (Scott),
Adam (Katie), Alexander (Krista), Kathryn, Thomas, David, Matthew
(Ashley), Charlene (Jeff), Laura, Hilary, Blake, Jonathan (Annie),
Garrett, Shayna, Stephanie (Adam), Adrienne, Ryan, McGregor, Mira and
Isabella and great-grandchildren: Polly, Alec, Benjamin, Lennon,
Finlay, Willow, Alanna, Alexis, Zisha and Chaim.
