Shirley Constance Jobe
1927-2017
It is with great sadness the family of Shirley C. Jobe, wife
of the late Donald G. Jobe, announces her passing after a brief
illness, on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Shirley was born in Saint John,
N.B. and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Valeda (MacLeod)
Meisner.
Shirley is survived by her loving son Peter and
daughter-in-law Jennifer, her beloved granddaughters, Jessica Jobe of
Montreal, Q.C. and Rebecca Jobe (Ryan Stoddard) of Dartmouth, N.S.,
along with her wonderful sister Gloria Coons of Dawson Creek, B.C.,
plus many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great
nephews.
Shirley began her education at New Albert School on the West
Side. She attended Mount Allison Private School for girls, and then
went on to the Horton Academy in Wolfville, N.S., Shirley finished her
education at Mount Allison University in Sackville, N.B. where she
attained her Music degree specializing in piano & voice. She
was a devoted private music teacher for 45 years who truly loved her
students and being involved with music festivals.
For many years, Shirley was a proud member of St.
George’s Anglican Church, serving various roles including
vestry, choir member and taught Sunday school where she really loved
working with the children. After moving to Rothesay, she became a very
active member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, becoming deeply
involved with bible study and especially enjoyed her involvement with
the ACW. She was also a Regent of H.M.S. Hood Chapter of the
I.O.D.E.
Shirley had a passion for golf; she was a past member of both
the Riverside and Westfield Golf and Country Clubs and served as
Ladies President at Westfield. After retiring from golf, she took up
gardening, where she and Don spent countless hours enjoying their
property on Forest Rd. She was a member of the Kennebecasis Garden
Club.
Shirley lived her life to the fullest; she truly had a zest
for life and absolutely loved people. Shirley dearly missed her
“Don” and her family will now dearly miss her. She
will always be remembered and loved forever.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank the wonderful
team at Shannex and also express our deepest thanks for the
unbelievable care and compassion provided by the many Nurses and
Doc’s in the Neuro ICU department at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Words can’t possibly express our gratitude, the
