1929-2017
It is with sadness that we must announce
the passing of Shirley Alice Beal, age
87, of Riverview, formerly of Sackville, NB. Shirley passed
away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, March 19,
2017.
Born in Sackville, she was the daughter
of the late Phillip and Margaret (Hopkins) Burke.
Shirley was very active in church
activities, teaching Sunday School and Pioneer Girls. For 10
years later in life she worked as a caregiver at the Drew Nursing
Home. She was a friend to everyone and loved to
help. For many years she has worked hard crocheting
bookmarks to fund raise and support Lisa DeGrace, a missionary in the
Ukraine who supports children and street
people.
She will be dearly missed by her
daughter Ramona “Monie” Hicks (Colin Phillips) of Moncton,
grandson Shawn Hicks (Allyson Smith), Ottawa; 3 great grandsons Simon,
Martin and Oliver; In-laws Gordon (Barb), Robert, Austin (Gloria),
Alta Wry, Donna Sullivan, all of Sackville; several nieces, nephews,
and great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband
Gerald in 1999, sister Ella; brother Phillip.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70
Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300) where visiting hours will be
held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral
service for Shirley will be held at Jones Funeral Home, on Saturday,
March 25, 2017 at 2 pm. Burial will take place in the
Sackville Cemetery in the Spring.
Those wishing to make a donation in
Shirley’s memory may do so to Missionary Lisa DeGrace by contributing
at the Funeral Home, the Friends of the Moncton Hospital, or a charity
of your choice.
