Shirley Ann Virginia Wills (nee Balfour) – 2016

Shirley, late of Lumsden, SK, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2016 at the age of 82 years. She was predeceased by her parents Marge and Shiff Balfour and numerous aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law. Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her husband Bert of 62 years, her children Barb (Mike) Shaw, Sandy Mohorich, Ken (Allison) Wills and Linda (Mark) Hodson; grandchildren Brian (Robyn) Shaw, Janice (Luke) Brady, Laura Shaw (Phil Kehrig), Todd (Danielle) Mohorich, Jason Mohorich, Justin Rumpel, Sam Wills, Issac Wills, Tad Hodson and Tylar Hodson; two great-grandchildren Charlie Brady and Anson Shaw; sisters Betty Shorten and Sharon Hicks; aunt Enid McLaren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was born and raised in Lumsden where she resided her whole life. She was very involved in the community especially with the United Church where she was a member of the UCW organizing many various functions. She was blessed with a lovely singing voice and sang for many weddings and funerals and was a member of the church choir for 50 years. Shirley was a wonderful cook and there was never a shortage of cookies or tarts if you stopped in for coffee. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a very caring and giving person. Shirley loved and lived for her family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, Lumsden, SK, on Thursday, December 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marjorie Kent officiating. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments following the service at the Lumsden Centennial Hall. Interment will take place a later date. We would like to thank all the staff at the Lumsden and District Heritage Home for the wonderful care they provided to mom over the last eight years. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make memorial donations in Shirley’s name to Lumsden and District Heritage Home, Box 479, Lumsden, SK, S0G 3C0, St. Andrews United Church, Box 734, Lumsden, SK, S0G 3C0 or Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan Inc, 301-2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK, S4P 3X1.
