Obituary for Sheila Hutchinson (Sterne)
It is with great sadness that the family of Sheila Ann Hutchinson, 85, of Martin’s Brook, announces her passing on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
Born in Lunenburg, Sheila was the daughter of the late Ralph and Francis (Black) Sterne.
Sheila graduated from Mount Allison University and went on to teach in Windsor and Amherst, and then settled in Saint John, NB, where she brought up her family and worked for a number of years at The Chalet, a centre for mentally challenged youth. Sheila and her husband Bob retired to Martin’s Brook in 1995, where over the years she was involved at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, the Church Guild, Meals on Wheels and the Seniors Bridge Club.
Sheila is survived by her daughters, Martha (Promise) Sanipe, Ottawa; Sally Hutchinson, Martin’s Brook; grandchildren, Liam (Anisa), Colin (Rebekah), Kiente, Okori, Wellington and Eretoru Sanipe; Zachary (Sarah) and Zoë Ingraham; great grandchild, Avery; sister, Jane Kerr, Fredericton; and sister-in-law, Lorna Sterne, Calgary, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob); brother, Kenneth Sterne; and brother-in-law, Ken Kerr.
A service to celebrate Sheila’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Interment will be in Martin’s Brook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Second Story Women’s Centre, Lunenburg, the Lunenburg Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
