Sedly ‘Syd’ Nelson Dean Evans passed away peacefully December 15, 2017 at the age of 95 years. He will be lovingly missed by children Cheryl Evans, Tim Evans, and Jim (Kristin) Evans; grandchildren Laura-Lee Eirich, Troy Eirich, Kyler (Gail) Evans, and Chad Evans; and great grandchildren Tretton, Kali, and Leila-Raine. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha ‘Bea’ Bailey Evans in 2006 and daughter Judy Mae Evans in January 2017.
Syd was a kind-hearted, easy-going spirit who loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with family.
He was born in Huxley, Alberta in 1922 where he farmed with his family. He later moved to Calgary and married Bertha ‘Bea’ Bailey in 1943. Syd and Bea loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time travelling and camping until they retired to Summerland in 1993. After 65 years of marriage Bea passed away from cancer.
At 92 years of age Syd moved to Angus Place where he met some good friends. Then in July 2017 Syd moved to his last residence at Summerland Seniors Village.
