Lovingly Remembered
Surrounded by her children Sarah went to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 4, 2017 in Calgary, AB. Lovingly remembered as a wonderful and kind mom to her four children: Tom Fast, Tim Fast (Margie), Carin Morton, Heather Fast. An incredible loving Grandma/Oma to her six precious grandchildren. Tricia Roberts (Nate), Laura Hooton (Brock), TJ Fast (Lindsay), Michelle Fast, Sarah Morton, Jedidiah Morton and one great-grandson Rhys.
Sarah was the second oldest child of twelve siblings, survived by: Pete (Mary) Lowen, Lena Janzen, Anne Skretting, Mary Unruh, and Betty (Mike) Giacchetta. Numerous nieces and nephews and relatives. Sarah was predeceased by her husband Henry Fast in 1996 as well as five brothers, and one sister.
Sarah was born in Marienthal, Tauria, Russia, immigrated to Canada in 1926. Homestead on Beaverlodge, AB, later The Loewen’s, settled on the farm in Vauxhall, AB. Sarah had various jobs including a cannery, orchard fruit picker, and harvested hops in the fall. Sarah worked with several families and kept in touch throughout the years. Sarah and Henry met in Vauxhall and were married in 1955. After the wedding, moved to Banff, where they worked together at the Banff Springs Hotel. When they started their family, they moved to Calgary. Mom, will always be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing, cooking and canning. The ultimate hostess and was known for her hospitality and delicious meals but it was her exceptional commitment to her family that came first.
Funeral Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home (1605 – 100 Street SE Calgary, AB) on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation prior to the Funeral starting at 12:00 p.m. To express condolences, please visit: www.mountainviewmemorial.ca.
