Obituary for Sandra Mary MacLeod (Power)
With great sadness on Sunday, November 26, 2017 (at age 65), Sandra passed away peacefully and surrounded by close family by her side at the Ottawa General Hospital. Devoted Mother to Melanie Ann MacLeod (Andrew Hamill) and Christopher Allen Donald MacLeod and Partner (Anne Seguin). Cherished Grandmother to Aya and Phoenix Hamill. Loving daughter to Rose and the late Robert Power. Sister to Brian Power (Anna), Dianne Power, Lynn Blumas and Partner (Terry Kuipers) and Gail Ward (Roger Ward). Beloved wife of Allen MacLeod (Marina MacLeod) for 27 years. Best friend and soul-mate to Celine Aubin. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and eventually raised in Ottawa, Ontario. Sandy was a dedicated civil servant with the RCMP for close to 40 years. Anyone who knew her, knows she had a passion and love for all animals, but especially horses. Sandy was inspired by the following words: “Open your wings and fly, just listening to your heart beating! That’s freedom.” You will be greatly missed and we will love you forever.
Memorial donations can be made to the Therapeutic Riding Association of Ottawa-Carleton, where Sandy did volunteer work.
