Sager, John Charles – at home, on Monday October 2nd, 2017, in his 78th year. Born in Belleville on April 10, 1940, the son of the late Leona (Whalen) and Rosco Sager. John is survived by his loving wife, Iris Sager (Vesterfelt), his children, Allan (Dawn) and Pamela. Proud poppa John to Maggie and Oliver. Dear brother of Marilee (Grant) Mitts, Cathy Davis and Jeannie (Hans) Vallen and brother-in-law of Lyle Mowers. John is predeceased by his brother, Alan, his sister, Carol Mowers and his brother-in-law, Wayne Davis. John is also remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends both here and in Florida. John retired from his career as a Belleville Firefighter in 1984. He and his wife Iris enjoyed spending many winters in Sarasota Florida. He also was an avid Lawn Bowler. Iris and the family would like to thank the caregivers at BGH Quinte 4, Bayside Home Care and Hospice Quinte for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. David Lisowski for his loving care over many years. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 296 Church Street, on Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with the family receiving friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel (613-968-2273). If desired, Memorial Donations to the St. Michael’s Church Capital Fund or to Hospice Quinte would be appreciated.
