Ruth Westall
Ruth Westall age 76 of Halifax, NS, passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at Arborstone Enhanced Care. Born on October 3, 1941 in Channel-Port aux Basque, Newfoundland she was the daughter of the late Lily (Leamon) and Andrew (Clyde) Frampton. Ruth moved from Newfoundland to Halifax, NS as a young girl before Newfoundland became part of Canada and she remained proud of her Newfoundland heritage. As a young woman Ruth worked in the family restaurant where she realized her love of people. Once Ruth became a mother and her children grew she became involved and volunteered at the Halifax Police Boys Club in the north end of Halifax. Ruth worked as a Pharmacy Assistant at Shoppers Drug Mart for many years where she forged very special friendships. One of several things Ruth loved was gardening where she could be outside in her yard and create beautiful flower beds. As part of the Westmount community she volunteered at the Edgewood United Church as part of the ladies’ auxiliary and at Westmount School. Ruth loved music of all kinds but especially anything she could do the jive to and appreciated anyone who was willing to dance. Family was very important to Ruth and she remained close to her siblings and extended family. She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her daughter Samantha Muise (Lorne Smeltzer) Upper Stewiacke, NS, sons David White (Nancy) Calgary, AB, Dana White (Mary) Hammonds Plains, NS, Steve White (Cheryl) Sackville, NS, sisters Louise (Kenny Bliss), Lillie King (Ian Murphy), Diane (Chris Loye), all of Halifax, brothers Clyde Frampton (Diana) Stratfordville, ON, Johnny Hemr, of Halifax, grandchildren; Andrew, Jacqueline, Monica, Natasha, Rebecca, Amanda, great-grandchildren; Brea, Caleb, Jack, Thomas, Carter, Chloe and Cole, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her ex-husband David R. White; husband Noel Westall, infant brothers Ralph and Hubert, infant sister Judy, son-in-law Philip Muise and great granddaughter Ava.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd, Halifax, where visitation will be held, Monday, December 18, 2017, at 10:00 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am and reception on-site afterwards. Following her wishes cremation has taken place with burial to occur at Oakridge Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia or the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax. Thanks to staff, especially 3rd floor caregivers at Arborstone Enhanced Care for the care provided to our mother during her illness.
