Roy Clifford Fougere – River Bourgeois
Roy Clifford Fougere – River Bourgeois Age 65, passed away at home in River Bourgeois, Nova Scotia on Wednesday, September 12, 2017.
He was the son of Anselme and Evelyn (Pottie) Fougere. Roy had a varied career and adventurous life. After working as a property mapper for the Nova Scotia government, he returned to university to achieve his goal of becoming as a mining engineer. This led him to working all across Canada and then around the world. Together with his wife Elaine they travelled extensively, experiencing unique opportunities such as climbing an active volcano in Indonesia, going on safari in Africa and the ultimate experience – journeying down the Niger to Timbuktu. His main interest was always the people he met along the way, his camera capturing the portraits of them in their everyday lives at work and play. As much as he enjoyed the adventures and challenges, his heart and home were always in River Bourgeois where he spent many happy days fishing on his boat, designing and building in his garage, and enjoying a sundowner in the peace and quiet on his deck.
He will be sorely missed by his wife Elaine (MacKichan) and their children Leia (Ben) and Nicolas; surviving sisters Sylvia (Peter), River Bourgeois, Gloria (Whitney), St. Peters; brothers, Hubert (Marguerite), Halifax, Conrad (Marie), River Bourgeois, Gordie (Rita), River Bourgeois and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Rennie, Leo, Carl and Henry; sister-in-law Annette; and four nephews.
Visitation will be held at the River Bourgeois Visitation Parlour from 2 to 5 pm on Saturday, Sept 16th. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or the Strait Regional Hospital Palliative Care Program.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
