Age 99, passed away on December 17 2016 at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial building.
Born in South Bay, Newfoundland she was a daughter of the late Charles and Effie Matthews.
Rosalie was born and raised a proud Newfoundlander and always considered it home.
She faithfully served her country in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps during WWII.
She was a remarkable woman and will be dearly missed by many.
Besides her parents, Rosalie was predeceased by her husband, Arthur; son, Lloyd; sisters, Stella Skelcher, Lottie Dale, Winnie Boutlier, Alice Howard, Alma Merrick, Joan Bishop; and brother, Lloyd.
Survived by her daughters, Joni (Ed) MacArthur, Vancouver, BC; Janet (Paul) Watson, Lawrencetown; Roseanne (Dave Purdy) Armitage, South Carolina; granddaughters, Robin Armitage, Truro; Julie (Francis Kearney) MacArthur, New Zealand; Tiffany (Mike Elliott) Watson, Lawrencetown; Samantha (Dennis) Simms, Lawrencetown; Grandsons, Ryan (Joowon) MacArthur, Fort Nelson, BC; Greg (Jen) Armitage, Truro; Dylan Purdy, South Carolina; Great-grandchildren, Alicia and Dominic Julian, Halifax; Marisol MacArthur, Fort Nelson, BC; Justin Armitage, Truro; brothers, Edward (Denise) Matthews, Dartmouth; Charles Matthews, Edmonton; brother-in-law, Ernest Armitage, St. Margarets Bay, Spencer Boutlier, Fairview; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. No services by request. Donations in Rosalie’s memory may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
