November 20th 2017
We regret to announce the sudden passing of Ronald Piper. Ron was the youngest of four children born to Forrest and Susie Piper of the Grand Prairie area. He was born on March 19, 1936 and passed away in Vernon on November 20, 2017. Ron spent his career in the Canadian Military Service as an Air Defense Technician, serving in various locations completing his career as a Warrant Office. Whenever stationed in remote areas he enjoyed attending whatever church services were available. His hobbies and interests were many and varied. He loved to fish, play golf and go camping. After retirement Gerda and Ron moved to Vernon where he kept on with the golf and also got into square dancing travelling up and down the Okanagan Valley and across Canada. He also enjoyed working around his house and yard and had more time for cooking and canning fruit. Ron will be forever loved by Gerda; his devoted wife of 57 years who was at his side even to the end of his life. His memory will be cherished by their son Lee (Janine), three grandchildren Jasmin, Justine and Brett, his brother and sister, nephews, nieces and many friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents and one sister. He will be laid to rest in the family plot in Red Deer, AB. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
