Roger Grant Hawkins
1951-2017
Unexpectedly at his residence on July 11, 2017, Roger Grant Hawkins,
husband of Pamla Annette (Harris) Hawkins of Pennfield NB. Born in
Blacks Harbour NB on March 15, 1951, he was a son of the late Arthur
and Lois (Justason) Hawkins. A loving husband, father, grandfather,
great-grandfather, brother and uncle, in addition to his wife Pam, he
is survived by his children: Jen (Steve) Campbell of Pennfield NB,
R.J. Hawkins (Maria Young) of Fort McMurray AB and Sara Hawkins of
Saint John NB; three grandchildren: D.J., Julia and Grant; one
great-granddaughter: Ally; one brother: Beecher (Joyce) Hawkins of
Pennfield; one sister: Karen Hawkins (Ellis Jagoe) of Fredericton NB;
two aunts: Marion Wadlin of Pennfield NB and Vera Gostnell of
Michigan; brothers and sisters in law: Randy (Debbie), Tony (Sari),
Eugene (Gale), Philip Lee (late Connie (Harris)), Noreen (Frank)
McGarrigle and Tammy Harris (late Dean Harris) chosen son: Kevin
Richard; chosen daughters: Dionne Comeau and Tammy Wilcox-Doiron;
several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by one sister: Charlotte
Elizabeth; father and mother in law: Rodney and Olga Harris;
sister-in-law: Connie Lee; brother-in-law: Dean Harris; and his
beloved canine companion: Brute.
Prior to his retirement, Roger worked for Connor’s Brothers Limited as
an Industrial Mechanic for 40 years. He was one of the original
members of the Pennfield Volunteer Fire Department where he held the
office of Deputy Chief. Other than his day job, for many years Roger
could be found in the Blueberry and Potato fields for the Hawkins
family business. He also enjoyed wood and metal working and was an
avid drag racing fan who rarely missed a race at the Pennfield
International Drag Strip. Roger knew his way around a kitchen and he
was known for his sweets and fish and chips, his fries were second to
none. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his
children and grandchildren and he will be sadly missed by all who knew
him and all the critters that loved him as well; Kia
“Critter”, Pretty Girl and Willow.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home
Chapel on Friday from 5-9 pm. The service will be held from the
Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield NB on Saturday at 2:00 pm with
Rev. Reg Ward officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger’s
memory to Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor’s
choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
