Obituary of Roderick Brown
BROWN, Roderick John “Rod”
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rod, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Friday, December 8, 2017, at the age of 60 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Kellie for 37 years. Loving Dad to Courtney, Taylor (Darcy) and Brittany. Rod will be dearly missed by his siblings Raymond (Wilma) and Susan (Phil), brother-in-laws Jamie (Marika), Shawn, Aaron (Stacie), mother-in-law Jackie, many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Predeceased by his parents George and Ada and father-in-law Desmond.
Rod was a proud Scottish native, who loved a good game of golf, a fine Scotch and a fresh Haggis. He spent the majority of his life in Canada and considered that his home. He met the love of his life in 1974 at the age of 17, and loved her every day since. He was a proud and loyal General Motors Employee for over 30 years. He was a coach that believed having fun was just as important as practice and hard work. He had an unconditional love for animals, especially his Lacey Mae. His passion for life was illuminating and his humour and witty personality was infectious to anyone and everyone around him.
In accordance with Rod’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. A private family Inurnment will take place at a later date.
