1932-2017
Robert (Bob) Vatcher, beloved husband and father, came to the
end of his earthly journey on January 16, 2017 at the Queen Elizabeth
Hospital in Charlottetown, P.E.I.. Bob was born on May 27,
1932 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Son of the late Mae and Leonard Vatcher
and step-son of the late Georgina Vatcher (nee Thompson). Beloved
husband of 60 years, of Eunice Vatcher. Dear father to Robert Vatcher
(Mavis), Howard Vatcher (Laurie), Susan Vatcher and Tamara Vatcher.
Adored grandfather of Warren Vatcher (Ally), Kayte Samson (Chris),
Rebecca Ardito (Stephen), Emily Vatcher, Moya Dumville (Ryan) and
Alexander Vatcher-Matheson and great-grandfather to Joshua, Matthew,
Lucy, Payton and Emmett. Bob spent 10 years in the RCMP
before moving to Labrador City to assume a position with the Iron Ore
Company of Canada. Bob and Eunice retired to P.E.I in 1990, building
their retirement home on the property that had once hosted a farm
homestead they had used as their summer home for 20 happy years
previous. They spent many years on what they lovingly referred to as
“The Farm”, hosting friends and family alike. Robert was an
avid boater, who delighted in bringing those he loved aboard to share
with them the beauty of the Island. Favorite destinations included:
the Outer Buoy, where many a mackerel were caught; and the
Greek Riviera (Greek River).
Resting at
Ferguson – Logan Funeral Home in Montague, P.E.I..
Visitation will be held from 2-3 pm on January 21st,
followed by funeral services at 3 pm. A Masonic Memorial Service
directly to follow funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to
the Stephen Lewis Foundation, the Humane Society of P.E.I or a charity
of your choice.
