Obituary for Robert McMurray
Robert McMurray, 71, of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 surrounded by the love of family and friends. Left behind, is his loving wife Sonja (Upham), stepdaughter Jennifer MacKay and granddaughter MacKaya Perry of Yellowknife, NT; his sister Margaret Rose Wood and niece Kelly Ann Harvey (Jeffrey) and great nephew and niece Tanner and Madeleine of Guelph Ontario; his mother-in-law Lillian Orr of Truro, and his brother-in-law Les Orr of Ontario. Robert, son of the late Robert McMurray and Bridget (McAleer), was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He is also predeceased by his brother-in-law Ted, and his first wife Lynda. Robert was a mechanic for most of his professional life. In his youth, he was a wonderful soccer player, and continued his love of the game following his team, Manchester United. He also enjoyed golfing, as a member of the Truro Golf & Country Club, photography, gardening, and woodworking. He also loved his dogs. Robert loved his life in Nova Scotia, as it reminded him of Scotland, and was glad he made the move from Ontario. His family in Ontario and Nova Scotia, are deeply saddened by his death. He will be forever missed by his wife Sonja (Honey), puppy Sophie and loving circle of friends and family. Friends are invited to join Robert’s family for visitation at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro Wednesday, January 3, from 4 – 7 pm.
