Obituary of Rita Storbakken
Rita Margaret Manning/Storbakken was born to Roy and Margaret Manning at Edmonton, Alberta on January 10, 1926, and passed away on September 18, 2017, at the age of 91 years.
Rita was the 2nd child of 10 siblings growing up in the Nilrem District south of Amisk. On November 29, 1944, Rita married Vernon Storbakken of Lougheed.
Rita is survived by her husband Vernon and their seven children: Marie Hartfelder, Verna Steil, Jim (Sandy), Lorna (Bob) Read, Catherine (Doug) Kells, Garry (Laurel) and Ivan; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Rita was predeceased by two sons-in-law Edwin Hartfelder and Ralph Steil, one grandson Murray Steil and one great-granddaughter Lauren Brodie.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killam. A private family inurnment will take place in the Sedgewick Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Rita may be made to the Killam Palliative Care, the Sedgewick Library or the Sedgewick Good as New. Please join the family for a time of fellowship and refreshments to be served in the Killam Community Hall after the service.
