James (Jim) Matthew Richards, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 27, 2017 at Mountain Lakes.
Jim is survived by his wife Gail, his sons Keenan (Shelley), Brian (Shenan) his grandchildren Grace, Ian and Joel, his siblings Lois, Martha, Tom and Paul, his sister in law Marion (Ken) and niece Farrah (Al and Brooklyn). He was predeceased by sisters Mary and Lydia.
Jim was born in 1944 in Penticton and lived there until he began his career as a Meteorologist for the Federal Government 1966-1995. He was the voice of the Castlegar weather centre on the radio for many years. He then worked for the Provincial Government at the Southeast Fire Centre, Castlegar.
He was a member of the Tarrys Fire Department from April 4, 1983 and retired as Deputy Chief on April 14,2005.
Jim loved gardening, in particular tomatoes and roses, computer, the weather in all forms, and all children but in particular his grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Reinecke, Dr. Janz and the staff of Mountain Lakes for the excellent care they gave Jim.
The family would like to invite all who knew Jim to a Celebration of Life on Dec 17, 2017 from 2pm – 4pm at the Tarrys Firehall.
