Rex (Paul) Vernon EDWARDS
February 23, 1931 – September 18, 2017 (86 Years of Age)
Rex passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2017. With the support of his wife, he fought his terminal illness for eighteen years with poise and grace, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rex was born in England and immigrated to the U.S.A. with his parents in February 1949. While living in the U.S., Rex was drafted into the U.S. Army and served two years of active duty in Korea. Upon returning from Korea, Rex moved to Canada, where he met and married the love of his life, Betty Katheleen French on July 27, 1957. Betty & Rex moved to the village of Richmond Hill in 1960, where they raised their three children. Rex is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, daughters Donna Edwards, Linda (Peter Legace) and son Scott Edwards. He is also survived by his eldest sister Pansy Cone, six grandchildren (Max, Victoria, Audrey, Elizabeth, Spencer and Colleen) and three great grandchildren (Delilah, Bentley, Adaline). Rex is predeceased by his parents, Winifred and William Edwards, his sisters, Pauline Petrowanczuk and Sylvia Tetreault, in- laws Elsie and William French. The family would like to thank and acknowledge all the persons who cared for Rex during the past several years. Their caring, compassion, professionalism, and affection were appreciated beyond words. A celebration of life will be held at the Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hill House Hospice, 36 Wright Street, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4C 4A1.
