Obituary
The family of Reverend Ken Walker is sad to announce his passing on March 5, 2017 at the age of 72.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Fay; his son, Kent; his daughter, Jaylene (Gilles) and his three grandchildren, Christian, Eric, and Joelle.
Born on December 24, 1944, in Vancouver, BC, to George and Olive Walker, Ken was raised on the west coast and attended Burnaby South Secondary. He came to Christ at age 21 during a prayer with his friend John Fluevog. He immediately was called to ministry and in 1966 worked with Josh McDowell and Action Group at UBC.
In 1968, Ken moved to Edmonton where he met Fay. In 1969, he attended North American Baptist College (NABC), where he graduated with B.Th. (1973). He later was admitted to the degrees of B.A. (U of A,1976) and an M.Div. (NABC, 1980). Ken served Central Baptist Church as Youth Pastor, planted Castle Downs Community Church, and led McKernan Christian Church as Senior Pastor.
Ken has been an active pastor in St. Albert since 1980. He was the founding Pastor of New Hope Community Church (1995), Padre for the St. Albert Legion, and a member of the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, George and Olive; brother, Roy; and sister, Yvonne.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the St. Albert Alliance Church, 25416 AB-633, St Albert.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the St. Albert Legion Branch 271 or to the New Hope Community Church in St. Albert.
