McKAY, Captain Raymond Gerald
September 20, 1923 – September 19, 2017
Rang off finished with engines Presented his soul to Jesus for eternal judgement. Family was paramount to Ray. He was predeceased by his parents, Capt. E.L. McKay and Ida Marie Carrelli, his first wife Juliette Rita Boivin and second wife Gertrude Ilse Drotos, brothers Lewis and Joe, sister Rita and son Larry McKay.
Leaves to mourn his sister Anna L. Phipps, children Karen Romein (John), Kevin McKay (Grace), Tom McKay (Lucy), Rita Danton (John) daughter-in-law Kim, nine grandchildren, twin great-granddaughters, stepson Patrick Drotos (Biggi) and their two daughters and many other relatives and friends. Ray was an active member of St. Helen’s parish, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a Master Mariner, a past president of Century House Association, a board member and instructor at the Community College for the Retired and a friend to all. Prayers will be held at St. Helen’s Church, 3860 Triumph St, Burnaby on Monday, September 25 at 7:45 p.m. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 26 at 1:30 p.m. in the church, followed by interment at 3:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby. Reception will follow at 5:00 p.m. at Confederation Community Centre, 4585 Albert St, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
