Raymond Forsyth

Raymond Forsyth 4 mai 1919 – 14 janvier 2017

of Ottawa, Ontario, peacefully on Saturday, January 14th, 2017, at his retirement home in Kanata, Ontario, at the age of 97. Born near Brandon, Manitoba to Alexander “Sandy” Forsyth and Margaret McDougall, he lived most of his life in Kenora and Kanata, Ontario. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Irene (nee Gagnon), his dear grandson Devon, his four brothers Reg, Ivan, Everett, Clifford, and sister Evelyn. Raymond is survived by his loving children Allison, Clifford (Sue), Clayton (Naomi), grandchildren Jacqueline, Reagan, Riley and great grandchildren Jovie and Spencer. Raymond was a veteran of WWII, joining the Royal Canadian Army Services Core Fifth Canadian Armoured Division in 1941 and was honourably discharged in 1945. He served in England, Italy and the Netherlands. After the war, Raymond settled in Kenora, Ontario, where he met Irene and they raised their three children. He had a variety of occupations before making a career in correctional services at the Kenora District Jail. He continued at the jail until his retirement in May, 1978. Raymond and Irene moved to the Ottawa area in 1991 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Raymond had a passion for sports and his favorite activities were curling and fishing. Raymond was a beloved husband and cherished father. He will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched. Funeral Arrangements in the care of the
