Rambhai V. Patel passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2017 at the age of 88 in his home in Vernon, BC. He was born in the village of Vanz, Surat, India in 1928 to Vallabhbhai and Maniben Patel. In 1948 he married Savitaben Patel. Caring, loving and strong mentor to the family, Rambhai travelled the world and during his lifetime lived in Fiji, England, Vancouver, Texas and finally settled in Vernon. Rambhai worked as a clerk for a government office in India, was a store owner in Fiji, bus driver in England and a motel owner in Texas and Vernon. He spent most of his time caring for his family and grandkids. He also enjoyed going for walks with his wife and watching wrestling, cricket and Price is Right. Rambhai is survived by his four children: Mahendra, Navin, Bharat and Gita, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Savitaben Patel in 2013. The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7th at the Armstrong Chapel of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services (2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong, BC). Memorial donations can be made in Rambhai’s memory to the British Columbia Lung Association (2675 Oak Street, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6H 2K2).
