Obituary for Ralph Nixon
Ralph Nixon, cherished husband of Elaine Bucknum, passed away on February 2, 2017. Besides his loves wife of thirty-three years he is survived by children, Joanne (Rick) Rinholm of Ottawa, Susan (Jack) Bardahl, Dwight (Louanne) Nixon, Cynthia (Terry) Webber, and Paul Nixon and their families. He will be missed by his wondrous grandchildren, Marc, David, and Jenny Serpa-Francoeur, and their parents Maggie and Alex. He will be remembered by his many friends and faithful dog, Vasco. Ralph was born in Calgary, grew up in Nanton, graduated from the University of Alberta in Electrical Engineering, and received an MBA from the University of Calgary in 1993. He had many careers, including engineer in Hamilton, owner of a GM dealership in Nanton, real estate agent in High River, and tax consultant and integral part of his wife’s business in Calgary. His community involvement included town councils, Rotary Clubs, and the University of Calgary Senate. Ralph enjoyed art; many of the prairie landscapes he painted grace his friends’ homes. He set an example of intelligence, tolerance, kindness, and decency; he was a gentle and well-loved man. According to his wishes, no funeral service will be held, but all are welcome at a gathering to share memories and farewell prayers on Sunday, February 5th, 2017 at 7819 Calla Donna Place SW, Calgary, at 2:30 pm.
