It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Radojka (Rada) Pawa, (nee Cubrilo). Rada will be forever missed, and will be lovingly remembered as a committed wife and mother who invested her all into her children and her family.
Rada was born to Vukasin and Marija Cubrilo on September 14, 1956. She passed away on February 5, 2017 in Edmonton.
Rada is survived by her husband, (Jas); three children, (Jasmine, Kasmira, and Jeevan); her aunt, (Neda); her three siblings, (Nina, Sonya, and Mike); and many family members and friends.
Rada arrived in Canada as a child and grew to be a caring, strong advocate for her parents and for others in the community. She graduated university with a master’s degree and approached her work, relationships, and motherhood with a strong conviction for supporting others. It was during her time at the University of Alberta that she met her husband, Jas Pawa, to whom she was married for 32 years.
Rada had a great love of books and music, and alongside Jas built a home filled with reading, activities, and endless discovery for their kids. She had a big heart for animals, and adored her pets including dogs Cody and Luna. She was proud of her heritage and loved going dancing at Serbian functions.
Rada had a kind, caring heart and was a devoted mother. She leaves a legacy in her three children that will endure, and she will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue. Contributions in memory of Rada may be made to the Edmonton Public Schools Foundation (http:/foundation.epsb.ca/).
