Rachel VanRaes – 2017

Van Raes, Rachel of Tillsonburg Retirement Centre and formerly Aylmer passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in her 95th year.Beloved wife of the late Gaston Van Raes(September 25,1990). Dear mother of Noel Van Raes (Cheryl) of Aylmer. Loving grandmother of Shannon Van Raes, Noelle Van Raes and Maia Van Raes. Also survived by a sister-in-law Andrea Van Raes of Aylmer, a niece Maria DeKeyser of Torhout, Belgium and a number of other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother Emiel DeClercq and a sister Philomene DeKeyser. Born in Zarren, Belgium on May 7, 1922 to the late Robert and Maria (Shattenham) DeClercq. Rachel came to Canada in 1948 and along with her husband operated a tobacco farm until their retirement. Rachel was a long time member of Our Lady of Sorrows and the Catholic Women’s League. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Aylmer on Saturday March 25, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment, Queen of Peace Cemetery. Donations to the United Way would be appreciated. Share memories or condolences at kebbelfuneralhome.com
