Petrie, Muriel

Muriel Petrie – passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on Monday December 12, 2016 at the age of 94. Muriel was a member of the former Donegal United Church, Donegal UCW and a past president of the Donegal Women’s Institute. She was a former 4H Leader in Perth County and a former crossing guard in Milverton. In the late 1950’s, Muriel obtained her nurses aid certificate and proudly worked at Knollcrest Lodge.
Dear mother of Donna Patterson (Jim), Ken Petrie, Bill Petrie, Maureen Houston (Vince Bergin) and Bob Petrie. Special grandma of Ken, David, Richard, Scott, Kyle, Jill, Amy, Jonathon, and Jennifer. Sister of Earl Buchanan. Fondly remembered by her 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her parents William and Alice (Thorndyke) Buchanan, daughter-in-law Deanna Petrie, sisters Marie Blackwell (Tom), Mary Park (Steve), brother Alvin Buchanan (Minnie) and sister-in-law Vera Buchanan.
In keeping with Muriel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Brenneman Funeral Home, Atwood on Saturday December 17, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. Spring interment in Donegal Cemetery, Donegal.
