It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Peter Minogue on Sunday December 18th, 2016, at the age of 72. Peter was the beloved husband of Barbara (nee Phillipps), the loving father of Brad (Becky) Minogue, and Alix Minogue, and the proud grandpa of Connor and Brock. Son of the late Reginald and Fran Minogue, he will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Meredith Feldmar (Andrew), and her children Marcel and Soma; Suzanne Minogue, and her daughter Nicole; and Kuya Minogue. He will also be sadly missed by his sister in law Darlene Pennock (Barry), and her children Mathew and Jansen; and his brother in law Brian Phillipps (Louise), and his children Erin and Breanna.
Peter lived his life to the fullest and touched many people along the way. He was a caring and generous spouse, parent, grandparent and friend. Peter was genuine, honest, straightforward and fun. His energy and enthusiasm were unparalleled.
Whether on a basketball court, a football field or at a bridge tournament Peter loved to compete and quickly and confidently succeeded at all he attempted. A gifted bridge player her was recognized as a Sapphire Life Master.
Peter graduated from Western University with a degree in economics. He was the founder of Coldwell Banker Peter Minogue Real Estate, and the owner of Morland Appraisals. Throughout his career he played a leadership role in real estate and economic development in the region. He served as president of the North Bay Real Estate Board, and on the board of the Ontario Real Estate Association. From 1996 to 2003 Peter was the chair of the City of North Bay Economic Development Commission.
In 2001 the CNIB honoured him as their celebrity roaster. He worked diligently from the opening of Osprey Links, in 1999, to raise funds for the North Bay Regional Health Center and One Kids Place. Peter was the President of Callander Bay Developments, and Osprey Links Golf Course.
A multi talented athlete he was inducted into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. He was a member of the Garland Pepsis winning provincial basketball team. In curling he skipped a number of winning teams, nearly making it to the briar on more than one occasion. The Algonquin Trojans won the NDA Triple Crown in 1963 -64 with Peter starring in both senior football and basketball teams. He quarterbacked local teams in the Canadian touch football finals twice.
His love of golf started as a junior golfer and he played throughout his life-better in his earlier years!He served as President of the North Bay Golf and Country Club from 1988 – 1991.
In retirement Peter spent his winters enjoying the camaraderie and golf at Innisbrook in Florida and his summers on the shores of Lake Nipissing with his family; fishing, and golfing at Osprey Links, in the community he developed. A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at Osprey Links club house on May 20, 2017. Donations in Peter’s memory to the North Bay Regional Health Center will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
