Peter Kucharuk – 2017

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Albright Manor. Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Barnard) of 55 years. Loving father to Peter, Paul (Deneen) and David (Nicole). Will be lovingly remembered by his two grandchildren Ryan (Samantha) Kucharuk and Kayla (Nicholas) Walsh and his two great-grandchildren Caleb and Logan Walsh. He will be missed by his sisters Maria Wasyleczko (the late Bill), Lidia (George) Hiltschuk, Vera (George) Bauer and his brother Bill (Monica) Kucharuk. He is pre-deceased by two of his brothers Ted (Teresa) and Walter Kucharuk. He will also be missed by his brother-in-laws George (Audrey) Barnard, Jack (Audrey) Barnard and Bill (Monika) Barnard. Peter was born on March 3, 1930 in Kowel, Ukraine, came to Canada in 1951 and lived in Timmons, Sudbury and then Grimsby. Peter was a barber by trade. He worked for Star Cleaners first before transitioning to Sears Canada where he worked for more than 20 years. Peter was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. Special thanks to the 4th Floor staff at Albright Manor for their care and kindness to Peter. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Panachyda Friday at 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 19 Ontario Street, Grimsby, on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. Interment Queen’s Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Albright Foundation or St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
