In her 91st year, Margaret Ruby Mae, ‘Ruby’ Peeling passed away peacefully on Friday, March 31st, 2017 with her family by her side. Ruby was a loving wife, a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother and friend. In addition to caring for her family, Ruby enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing with the Simcoe Street United Church Choir, volunteering in the ‘Thrift & Gift Shop,’ and was an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years John ‘Jack’, her brother and sister-in-law, Orland and June Bailey; and her grandson and son-in-law David and Michael Rubini. She is survived by her children: Jane Rubini and Mary Beeton & her husband Edward; her niece Shirrell Henry and nephew Oral Bailey; and her brother-in-law Arthur Peeling. She was a proud grandmother and lovingly referred to as ‘Nanny’ by her grandchildren: Kathryn (Jeremy), Jason (Alex), Nicole (Zane), and Stacey (Zach); and her great-grandchildren Keeghan, Adelyn and Dez. In recent years she resided at Empire Crossing Retirement Residence in Port Hope, Ontario where she made wonderful new friends. The family is very grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by the Empire Crossing staff as well as by Dr. Wijeyesinghe and the nursing staff at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday April 8th, 2017 at 3 pm, with visitation starting at 2:00 pm at McINTOSH-ANDERSON-KELLAM FUNERAL HOME, 152 King Street East, Oshawa (905-433-5558).
