Obituary for Paul Romas
Paul Merlin Romas, beloved husband of Cathie passed away suddenly at the cottage on August 14, 2017. Left to cherish his memories are his siblings Steve, Peter (Adeline), Leona (Gerry), sister-in laws Linda and Sophie Romas. In-laws Don and Lynne Gale, Marlene and Ron Snider, Bill and Marian Gale, and numerous nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. Paul was predeceased by his parents Henry and Nettie Romas, sister Jean Hychuck, and brothers Barry, Nick, Ernie, and Norman Romas.
Paul was born and raised on a farm in Oakbank, Mb. He moved to Winnipeg and worked at the YMCA for a short time then moved on to an insurance company. They wanted him to move to Toronto but Cathie did not want to move so he stayed. Paul then began his long career with the Provincial Agriculture Department.
Paul and Cathie had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 13th, 2017. They travelled extensively and vacationed in Arizona for the last 22 winters and spent summers at the cottage at Lee River. Paul was a member of the Kilcona Masonic Lodge and the Khartum Shriners Vintage Car Unit for almost 30 years. A memorial service will be held August 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Avenue West, Winnipeg. A lunch will follow in the church basement.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Khartum Temple or a charity of your choice.
