Paul D. Casey
1945-2017
CASEY, PAUL DEAN – 72, passed away, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at
Maine General Hospital in Augusta, Maine. He was born May 1st, 1945 in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Stephen Henry Casey Jr. and Grace Pauline
(Cook) Casey; the middle son of their three boys.
After high school Paul joined the Unites States Navy. He served
in Vietnam earning the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal
with bronze star, Navy Commendation Medal, Sea Service Deployment
Ribbon, Battle “E.” Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Gold
Wreath Award for Excellence in Recruiting. While in the Navy, Paul met
and married his first wife Lorraine and started a family. The Navy
gave them the opportunity to travel and see much of the United
States.
When it came time to retire, Paul moved his family back to
Maine. He had been stationed in Maine before he found a love for the
area and settled down in Lubec in 1984. He worked with Stanley Sheldon
doing construction, Eric’s Hardware, Head of Maintenance at the
Oceanview Nursing Home, and then on the island as the owner of
Paul’s Variety. Providing that service to the community of
Campobello Island was the one job he enjoyed the most. Whether it was
stocking shelves or making special deliveries, he found joy in that
store. He retired from the store and was able to travel again,
something he always enjoyed.
He was predeceased by his parents Stephen and Grace Pauline
Casey, his granddaughter Margaret Mary Casey, and his first wife
Lorraine Casey. He is survived by his second wife Vanessa Malloch of
Campobello Island, NB, his brothers David Casey of Suisun City, CA,
and Mark Casey of Dallas, TX, his children: Mary Greene and her
husband Scott of Lubec, ME, Stephen Casey and his wife Dawn Marie of
