Patricia Louise Crowdis: loyal wife, daughter, sister, friend and cat lover. Born in New Glasgow, N.S. on June 12, 1956; died in Saint John N.B. on October 15, 2017 after a lengthy period of ill health. She was the daughter of the late George and Ina (Ripley) Crowdis and the wife of Patrick Barrett for 37 years . Besides her loving husband, Patricia is survived by her brother Gerald (Esther), sister-in-law Ruth Crowdis, nieces Kim Dale, Shauna Dugas, nephews John Crowdis (Sarah Fanning), all of Calgary, and David Crowdis of Ottawa. She is also survived by aunt Lois Bobyk, special cousins Ina and Jim Mortimer, numerous cousins and devoted feline companions Joey and Jenny. Besides her parents, Patricia was predeceased by brother James, and sister Eileen. Patricia was raised primarily in Sydney; she graduated from Sydney Academy and attended Dalhousie University. She worked for many years with the Nova Scotia Teachers’ Union and the Saint John Regional Health Authority. She then worked for the Nunavut Health Region until ill health forced her retirement. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Cremation has taken place. Information regarding a memorial service in Sydney, NS will be announced later. Donations in Patricia’s memory can be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
