Patricia Eileen Dunn (High River) - March 27

Patricia Eileen Dunn (High River) – March 27, 1940 – June 12, 2017

March 27th, 1940 – June 12th, 2017
It was our pleasure to have a “Good-bye Party” for Patricia Eileen Dunn on Sunday June 11th, 2017. Pat enjoyed her final wish of hosting a wine and cheese gathering for friends and family.
Pat was born in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan and grew up in Winnipeg. She married her husband, Bill on July 15th, 1961. They were married for 55 years and renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. Pat was a loving wife to Bill, a mother, grandmother… and great-grandmother. They lived on the family farm outside of Winnipeg for 26 years before moving to the Cayley, Alberta area in the late 80’s. Pat taught in Manitoba for 27 years and continued to teach for nine more years in High River and Okotoks. Forever the teacher, she continued a life long desire to learn new things, especially through travel. In recent years, she explored Russia, Hawaii, Iceland, Australia, Ireland, Scotland and Europe.
She took a pragmatic approach to all aspects of her life and as one of her good friends said, “…no nonsense, get to the point, and why are we wasting our time on this!” Pat was very community minded and brought her wide range of skills to any group she was involved with.
Pat felt that the lyrics written by Paul Anka said it best:
“…I’ve lived a life that’s full
I travelled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way.”
No flowers, please. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Cheques may be mailed to Suite 300 – 1620, 29th Street NW, Calgary, AB, T2N4L7 or donate online at AlbertaCancer.ca/donate. At Pat’s request, there will be no service.
