OLSON Kathleen Lucy - June 20

OLSON Kathleen Lucy – June 20, 1919 – December 9, 2016

WE SAY FAREWELL TO KATHLEEN LUCY OLSON
Kathleen left her well-lived life to be with her family in Spirit in the early hours of December 9, 2016. At the age of 97, she was ready to join her husband, infant son, mother, father, sister and twin brother.
Kath was a prairie girl, born to a homesteading family in Central Butte, SK. She grew up on the family farm and left home to train to become the best Registered Nurse she could be. Nursing first in several locations in Saskatchewan before marrying Raymond Olson and settling in Kerrobert, SK, she continued her career and they raised their family. They moved on to Terrace, BC in 1970 where she continued to nurse for another 12 years before retiring after 34 years in the profession that she loved.
She did much traveling in her retirement, finally settling near her daughter in Calmar, AB in 1999. Here Kath was often called the “hat lady” as she sprinted around town on her scooter with her ever familiar tam secured firmly to her head and her Canadian and Welsh flags flapping madly on her aerial!
Kath was the family’s “go to” person when any question had them all stumped. Her quick smile, easy wit and generous character will be missed by all those she touched, both throughout her RN career as well as her daily life. She leaves to be remembered, with much love, her older sister, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held when her favorite flowers, the daffodil and crocus, are in bloom – exact date to be advised.
