Obituary of Olive Chaplin
Chaplin, Olive Jean
1924 – 2017
Our beloved Olive passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
Born Olive Jean Wournell on April 13, 1924 in Halifax, NS, she was the much-loved wife of Lewis Chaplin who passed in 2005.
She was sister-in-law to Charlie and Della Boyce, NS, Mildred Cooke, NS, and Elsie Takacs, ON. She was a good friend to Ivan and Judy Purdy, ON and a very special aunt to nephew John Holland and wife Joanne, ON. To the Kennas, Brian, Lilli, Nathan, Akiko and Lindsay, Olive was always part of the family, if not through blood then through love.
Olive was part of the original quilting group at the Adult Rec Centre. She walked everywhere and always carried toonies in her pocket to give to the street people. An avid reader, Olive must have read almost every mystery book in the Waterloo library!
Cremation has taken place and Olive will be laid to rest with husband Lewis in Middle Stewiacke, NS.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer’s Society may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
“The death of an old person is like the burning of a library.” Alex Haley, from an African proverb
