Olive passed peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Sunday, July 23, 2017. Born in Hullett Township on May 3, 1920, Olive May Bettles of Seaforth was in her 98th year.
Beloved wife of the late Kennith H. Bettles. Loving mother of Gary “Cub” Bettles of Seaforth and his friend Joanne Hickey of Blyth, and mother-in-law of Lorraine Bettles and her friend Charles Campbell, both of Stratford. Cherished Grandma of Pam Andersen (Darran), Michael Bettles (Ann), Jill Bettles, Ken Bettles (Karyn), Julie Ladd (Bill Van Ninhuys), Great-Grandma of Tyler (Kim), Nicole (Landon), Lauren (Blake), Darrah, McKinley, Cameron, Kristy, Hannah, Vanessa, Denver, and Great-Great-Grandma of McKenzie and Tripp. Also survived by her brother-in-law, Gordon Bettles (Helen) of Salmon Arm, BC, as well as her many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband Kennith (1969), son Paul (2006), daughter-in-law Barbara (1998), parents Robert and Irene (née Riley) Grimoldby, and her sisters-in-law Isobel Meredith (William) and Robert Bettles (Ellinor).
Cremation has taken place and memorial visitation will be held at McGlynn Family Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Monday, July 31st from 7-9 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday, August 1st from 10 a.m. until the time of Olive’s celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Maitland Bank Cemetery followed by a reception at the Seaforth Legion, Branch 156.
