BEAULIEU
Mr. Oliva Beaulieu, age 95 years passed away peacefully with family at his side at Pioneer Ridge Home for the Aged on Friday March 10, 2017. Oliva was born in Lac-au-Saumon, Quebec. During his early years in Ontario, Oliva worked as a tree faller in the lumber industry. When he moved to Thunder Bay in 1960, he worked as a mechanic and welder/fabricator. Oliva had a unique talent for problem solving mechanical things, even to the end, hence the staff at Pioneer Ridge called him Houdini. He was well loved by his wife , family and everyone he associated with, sadly dementia took over his mind in his last years. He will always be remembered as kind generous gentleman who cared very much for his wife Rolande and raised his four children with a firm but fair hand. We will always thank him for that. May he rest in peace.
Oliva is survived by his children Diane Skinner (Grant), Gerald Richard (Bev), Carl Richard (Lorraine), and Brenda Beaulieu (David); grandchildren: Kelly (Justin), Eric, Clare, Sylvie, Nicholas and Samuel; great grandchildren: Natalie, Lukas, Miles and Violet Faulkner. Oliva was predeceased by his wife, Rolande in 2009.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 14th at 3:00 pm in the Sargent and Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Deacon Dennis of Corpus Christi Church presiding. Interment to take place at a later date.
A special thanks to the staff at Pioneer Ridge for their care, compassion and concern for his comfort and well-being. Our family could not have asked for more, the staff was the most empathetic, and we thank them all.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Helping Hands Auxiliary, Pioneer Ridge Home for the Aged, Thunder Bay or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
