Maschio, Olga Elizabeth
Passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the Guelph General Hospital on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Joseph Maschio Sr. (1992). Dear mother of John Maschio and his wife Margaret, and Laurie Maschio-Hanson and her husband John Hanson of Kitchener. Loving grandmother of Michael Maschio, Maria Vankoughnett (Matthew), Jessica Hanson (Derek) and Mark Hanson. Delighted great-grandmother of Hudson and Finn Vankoughnett. Predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Annie Poleway, and her aunt Kateryna Czarnookij. Sister-in-law of Bianca Maschio and her late husband Gino, Willa Maschio and her late husband Quinto, and Rena Smith (Grant) of Kitchener. Sister-in-law of and predeceased by Esther Fraresso (Louie) and Lou Maschio (Irene). Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, their families, and her special friends.
Olga worked full-time and part-time for many years, and retired from her position as office manager for the Guelph Motor Vehicle License Bureau in 1988. She had a strong faith and was a life-long member of the Catholic Women’s League. Olga cherished her family and friends, and was always willing to support those around her with kind words and actions. She had a love of life and a positive outlook which affected everyone who knew her. Olga will be dearly missed by all.
Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Drs. Nicholas and William Ruddock, as well as all staff at The Elliott Community (Ellington) for their excellent care during Olga’s stay at the residence. Also, a sincere thank-you to Dr. Sahay, Dr. Nasser, the nurses and social worker in the Emergency Room Department at Guelph General Hospital for their guidance and compassion.
Friends and family are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, for visitation on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, 28 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. There will be a private family burial at a later time. Cremation has taken place.
