Norman Lawrence – 2017

Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Alexander Lawrence.
Norm was born on July 24, 1918 in Wimborne, Alberta; the 6th of 10 children born to Priscilla (Matheson) and Fenwick Norman Lawrence. In June 1942, Norm married the love of his life, Ina Jean Lawrence, with whom he lived and loved for 70 ½ years. “Jeannie” passed away in 2013. He is survived by their 4 children, Stu (Marlene), Bob (Bev), Bill (Adele) and Kathy; eight grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Allan; brother, Stan Lawrence (Gert) and many nieces and nephews.
Norm was a hard worker, devoted friend and loving husband and father. His accomplishments and contributions professionally and to the community were many, and included military service overseas as a Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Engineers from 1941-45; Professional Engineer and co-founder/past President of Associated Engineering Services Limited (AESL) and Council Member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA, now known as APEGA); Past President of the Alumni Association and Member of the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta; Director and committee member with several companies and professional organizations; and volunteer with Scouts Canada and Kiwanis.
The family would like to thank Canterbury Court for their care and hospitality over the past few years.
A Celebration of Norm’s Life will be held at Laurier Heights Baptist Church, 8505-142 Street, Edmonton on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
