Nicholas (Nishie) Ignatius Power
September 22nd, 1927 – February 28th, 2017
Passed peacefully away after a lengthy illness, Nicholas Ignatius Joseph Power (Nishie) at the Central Newfoundland Regional Healthcare Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor at the age of 89. Nishie leaves to mourn Linda Trask Kingman, the daughter he never had; her husband Jim and son Jamie, and a large circle of family and friends. Nishie is predeceased by his parents James and Catherine Power, brothers Michael, Cecil, James, Thomas, Patrick, and Freddie and sisters Selina McDonald and Delores Gardner. Public visitation will take place Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, March 3rd, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The funeral mass will take place March 4th, 2017 at 2:00 PM from The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Grand Falls-Windsor. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Union Street, Grand Falls-Windsor. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement. A special thank you to Father Joseph and Reverend Kim and to all the nurses and doctors at the hospital and also the wonderful staff at the golden years estates on Grenfell Heights in Grand Falls-Windsor. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Pallbearers are Jim Kingman, Glen Beson, Paul Martin, Leo Power. Honorary pallbearers are Linda Trask Kingman and Jamie Trask. Nish started work at the Grand Falls paper mill at a very young age, never missed a days work and was granted the golden handshake for his retirement. Nishie’s favorite pastime was bowling and even had his name on the hall of fame. He had a love for music, especially the accordion and even sang on the radio years ago. Nish was a man of honor, loyalty, and compassion. His love for life inspired all who knew him. His appreciation and kindness will always be remembered by those who love him. Rest in peace Nishie, forever loved, forever remembered.
