Muriel Jean Jones – 1922 – 2017

Obituary of Muriel Jones
JONES, M. Jean, passed away at Admiral Long Term Care after a brief illness on August 30, 2017 at the age of 95. Born in South Waterville, Kings Co., Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Ruth (Young) Taylor.
She was educated at the school in Waterville, attended Kings County Academy, Kentville, and Success Business College in Truro. During World War II she worked for five years as a Medical Stenographer for the RCAF at Eastern Air Command. In 1945, she married W. Earl Jones and lived in Vancouver, BC for three years before returning to Nova Scotia. She was a stay-at-home mother and spent her free time knitting, crocheting and reading. She also spent many happy times at the cottage in Avonport with her family. She was a member of Bethany United Church for many years and the Alpha Elizabeth Unit of the UCW.
Surviving are daughter Beverley (Ted) Powell, Miller’s Lake; their two children Ann (Evansville, Indiana) and Jeffrey; son Roderick (Judy), Fletcher’s Lake; their two children, Jennifer and Leslie, and great granddaughter Emily; sister Joyce (Mrs. Luc Hensbergen), Alberta; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband W. Earl Jones; brother K. LeRoy Taylor (Dot) and her sisters Etta (Mrs. Gordon Sweet) and Ethel Taylor.
Cremation has taken place. No visitation or funeral by request. Private burial service to be held at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to your charity of choice. Special thanks to the staff at the Admiral Long Term Care Centre, Home Care, and Dr. Amy MacFarlane of Fall River Family Practice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900).
