Muriel Anne Wilson – 2017

Muriel Anne Wilson
Muriel Anne Wilson, 95, of Moncton, passed away at The
Salvation Army Lakeview Manor, Riverview, NB on Monday, July 3,
2017.
Born in Blissfield, NB, on December 10, 1921, she was a
daughter of the late William W. and Jennie (Mersereau) Bamford. She is
survived by her three children, Michael of Moncton, Malcolm (Barbara)
of Portage Vale and Miriam MacLeod (Kenneth) of Moncton; two sisters,
Dorothy Dunphy of Fredericton and Marjorie Campbell (Rev. Floyd) of
Upper Blackville, NB and one brother, Edward (Gloria) of Hingham,
Mass. Her grandchildren include Erika Jutras (Jean-Francois) of
Fredericton, Alexandra MacLeod of Moncton and Mark and Brian Wilson of
Moncton. She is also survived by one cousin, Lloyd Mersereau and many
nephews and nieces.
Muriel graduated from Provincial Normal School in 1939 and
taught in various New Brunswick country schools until her marriage to
Rev. G. Manter Wilson in 1946. For the next 30 years, she was a busy
pastor’s wife, mother, school teacher and a Christian friend
to many, in Windsor, NS, Sackville, NB, Oakville, ON, Lutes Mountain,
NB, Perth-Andover, NB and Sunny Brae, NB.
While busily raising a family, she was a willing worker in
various aspects of Christian ministry: Sunday School, Baby Band, Daily
Vacation Bible School, Women’s Missionary Society,
entertaining visiting pastors and missionaries, and helping in church
outreach programs and Christian Women’s programs. In later
years, she was involved with Rothesay-Netherwood School, the Salisbury
Baptist Church and the Moncton City Hospital. She enjoyed working with
her hands and this was evident in numerous sewing, knitting,
needlework projects and in wonderful meals.
Muriel always enjoyed the host of friends she had made from
both her school teaching days and from the various pastorates in which
she had lived. Despite serious health concerns in recent years, one of
her major enjoyments was to travel to visit friends and to see
interesting areas of the Maritimes. Though often quiet and unassuming,
she displayed true Christian love and compassion and generosity which
affected and changed the lives of many over the years. II Timothy 4:7,
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have
kept the faith”.
A Service to celebrate her Christian life and faith will be
held at the Sunny Brae Baptist Church, 85 Elmwood Drive, on Saturday,
July 8, 2017 at 11:00 am, conducted by Pastor Colin Cook, with a
reception and visiting to follow. Interment will be in the United
Baptist Cemetery in Doaktown, NB.
Arrangements are under the professional care and guidance of
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton
(858-1995).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Overseas Missionary
Fellowship (OMF), World Vision, Camp Wildwood or the donor’s
choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences for the
